Connecting your WhatsApp number

Tenashi works with the WhatsApp number you already use. There is no new number to buy, no application to fill in, and nothing changes for the people messaging you — they carry on using WhatsApp exactly as before.

Linking works the same way WhatsApp Web does: you scan a QR code with your phone, and your phone authorises Tenashi as a linked device.

Before you start

Have the phone with you. The number is linked from the WhatsApp app on that device, so you cannot do this step from somebody else's phone or from a desktop alone.

Link the number

1. Go to Settings → Numbers.
2. Click Connect another number, and give it a name your team will recognise — "Sales", "Support", "Front desk". The name is only for you.
3. A QR code appears.
4. On the phone, open WhatsApp → Settings → Linked devices → Link a device.
5. Point the phone at the QR code.

Within a few seconds the number shows as Active and your recent chats begin appearing in the inbox.

What happens next

Your recent conversations import automatically. How far back they go is decided by your phone, not by Tenashi — Android generally hands over more history than iPhone. Everything from the moment you connect arrives live regardless.

Keep WhatsApp open on the phone until the import finishes. If you lock the phone straight away the sync tends to stall partway.

Keep the phone connected

A linked device is exactly that — linked. WhatsApp requires the phone to come online periodically, so the phone needs a working connection and enough battery to stay reachable. A phone that is off for days will eventually cause the link to drop.

The QR code isn't appearing

Give it a moment first; the session has to start up before it can produce a code.
