Importing your chat history

When you link a number, Tenashi imports your recent conversations so the inbox isn't empty on day one. A progress bar appears at the top of the inbox while this runs, and chats stream in as they arrive.

How much history you get

Your phone decides this, not Tenashi. WhatsApp hands a linked device whatever history it chooses to share, and the amount differs by platform:

• Android generally shares more.
• iPhone generally shares less.

This is a WhatsApp behaviour and nothing in Tenashi can widen it. Everything from the moment you connect onwards arrives in full either way.

Getting the most out of the import

Keep WhatsApp open and unlocked on the phone until the syncing indicator finishes. The single most common cause of a thin import is the phone being locked or backgrounded partway through.

A good connection helps too — the phone is uploading a lot in a short window.

Pulling in more later

Import older chats sits at the bottom of the conversation list. It asks the phone for another pass over your recent history and fills in what it can. It is safe to run more than once: anything already imported is recognised and not duplicated.

If you want the deepest possible import, disconnect the number and link it again with the phone unlocked and WhatsApp open. A fresh link asks for history from scratch.

Re-linking never loses anything. Your conversations, notes, deals and tickets live in your workspace, not on the phone, and reattach to the same number when you scan again.

Why an old chat might be missing

If a conversation is older than the window your phone shared, it won't be there until that contact messages you again — at which point the chat appears with the new message, and any older messages your phone shares along with it.
